Okay, this is definitely unlike anything I’ve ever posted before. I’ve posted reviews before, sort of, but that’s not quite what this is gonna be. Basically, I’m obsessed with Twenty One Pilots. If you know me, you probably already knew this. On October 5th, their fifth album finally came out. Let me tell you, I’ve been looking forward to this day for ages. Their last album came out over three years ago, so it’s really been a long time coming. So, in light of these recent events, I just wanted to dedicate a post to Twenty One Pilots and my love of them and their new album. (Yes, I know, I’m a ridiculous fangirl, just let me love them okay.)
I knew I was gonna love this album, because I love pretty much everything they’ve ever released, but wow. This album is a whole new level of beautiful. There’s a pretty long back story to this album (like, months of cryptic posts on an obscure website, laying the groundwork for this alternate-universe concept album) so here’s a pretty quick recap of all that. If you do a little more digging around, you’ll find that there are endless theories surrounding the album. Over the summer, they dropped a few singles off of the album, but they could never have prepared me for the rest of the album. Along with the singles came some really beautiful videos, which only added to the theories. Really, all I can say is wow.
My current favorite on the album is probably Chlorine, but it’s really hard to choose just one favorite, so I imagine that’ll change a few times. Neon Gravestones is a strong contender too, with it’s deeper message about the glorification of suicide, and Leave the City always leaves me feeling nostalgic (for what, I’m not entirely sure). Right now, I’m listening to Cut My Lip and absolutely loving it. I remember when the tracklist came out, I was a little skeptical of a song called Cut My Lip, but I could never have guessed how beautiful it would be.
Honestly, I could go on for ages about all of the songs on this album, so I’ll stop myself before this gets too long. Do yourself a favor and listen to this album. I promise you won”t regret it. Let me know which song is your favorite once you listen!
Stay tuned for more updates,
